Chennai Super Kings (CSK) signed the wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel as a replacement for Vansh Bedi for the remainder of this IPL season. Urvil will replace Bedi, who has an injury and has been ruled out indefinitely. Bedi was named in the playing 12 for the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, replacing Deepak Hooda at the last minute. Bedi was bought by CSK for Rs 55 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
In the IPL auction 2025, Urvil went unsold, who was registered at a base price of Rs 30 lakh. The 26-year-old, Urvil, played a breakthrough domestic season, including hitting the second-fastest century in men’s T20 cricket, off just 28 balls. His innings came against Tripura in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and he scored a 35-ball 113, featuring 12 sixes and seven fours.

Five-time champion CSK will have a very disappointing campaign and become the first team to be eliminated from playoff contention this season. MS Dhoni and his team will try to find their weaknesses and identify a more settled playing XI ahead of the next season in their last three matches remaining.
