Shubman Gill has become only the third Indian batter after Sunil Gavaskar and Yashasvi Jaiswal who have scored 700 runs or more in a Test series. Indian skipper made 103 runs against England on the fifth day of the fourth Test during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy to cross the mark. He has scored 722 runs in four test matches, the third-most by an Indian in a series.
Gavaskar had the record for the most runs scored in a Test series for India with 774 runs to his account in eight innings against West Indies during the 1970/71 season. Jaiswal became the second Indian to achieve the 700-run mark when he scored 712 runs against England during their five-match series in 2024.
He also became the first Asian batter to score 650 runs or more in a Test series in England. He made a double century in the second Test in Birmingham, scoring 269 runs – his highest. Apart from that, he also has two hundred in this series.
