The national selection committee members will join the meeting, which is scheduled to be held at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters on Saturday. The meeting aims to pick the best 15 Indian players for the England Test tour. The committee is headed by Ajit Agarkar.
The selectors are ready to approve the name of Shubman Gill as the new captain, while Rishabh Pant could be named as his deputy for the five-match Test series. The 25-year-old Gill has played all three formats of the game and is currently leading the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League this year.

The national selection committee is planning to groom a young captain like Gill, under the guidance of head coach Gautam Gambhir.

The Indian team will play the five-match Test series against England, to be played from June to August 2025. The England series will be the start of India’s campaign in the World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.
