Abdul Ismail ‘Sultan of Swing’: On 30 May 2025, Abdul Ismail, a domestic cricket stalwart, died at the age of 79 due to a cardiac arrest in Mumbai. He received the title of ‘Sultan of Swing’ due to his exploits for Mumbai. Abdul Ismail was a right-arm fast-medium bowler and appeared for Bombay between the 1969/70 and 1977/78 seasons. He took 3/15 and 6/16, giving his team an innings win within two days in his first match of the 1971–72 Ranji Trophy against Gujarat. He finished the 1971/72 season with 56 wickets at an average of 13.98.

He received 244 wickets at an average of 18.08 in 75 First-Class matches, and played a role for Mumbai, winning five Ranji Trophy titles during that period. He was awarded by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) during the 50th anniversary celebration of Wankhede Stadium.
